Ads Malware infection

I have a infection in my system which is evident when using the internet through my Firefox. Ads pop up consistently on my home page and whenever I open a new window. I have run a number of malware programs without success. They identify an infection - win32.unknown.random.x and searchindexter.exe in my win32 folder, also sys32. glb1a2b and sys32.roboot64. I am at a loss to progress any further and really do not want to do a clean install if it can in anyway be avoided. Appreciate any help...
